The music of Nigel Butterley: 1950-2001

This thesis provides a detailed analysis of the music of Nigel Butterley from his earliest compositions to 2001. The music is situated in context by quotations from extensive conversations with Dr Butterley and from contemporary sources, and subjected to a detailed technical analysis to trace Butterley's development as a composer.
