This document explores school rampage violence [SRV] and best practices to effectively cope with this phenomenon. These guidelines have been written specifically for those responsible for preparing, assessing and responding to threats of this nature within an Australian university environment. Although statistically rare in Australia, the consequences of SRV incidents are devastating and long lasting as emergencies of this nature impact all individuals involved. It is therefore essential that SRV prevention strategies, emergency response plans and the provision of appropriate support services are in place. It is for these reasons that this document was designed in order to produce best practice guidelines to effectively manage SRV in an Australian university context.
