The Personality Based Eating Awareness Program was developed by the TRACE (Targeted Research in Addictive and Compulsive Eating) Dietetics team at the University of Newcastle to offer a personalised approach, based on personality traits, to support individuals in improving their symptoms of addictive eating and dietary intake. Based on scientific research, the facilitator manual contains information to assist dietitians in guiding participants through the TRACE Program. This includes the information required for each of the five sessions and instructions on how to conduct each session. The sessions cover practical information for understanding addictive eating behaviours and provides a range of skill-building and goal setting exercises with the aim to create eating awareness. Developed in consultation with health professionals and consumers with lived experience of addictive eating, the program will assist individuals in creating an ‘Addictive Eating Action Plan’ and improving their relationship with food.
