Australian poetry since 1788 (book review)

It’s often tempting to think of poetry anthologies in architectural terms because of their size, expense and the number of people involved in their construction. Indeed, the dimensions of Australian Poetry Since 1788 are imposing – they approach those of an edifice in their own right – but no analogy to an architectural structure seems more apt in this case than that of a folly. By this, I mean those structures which are costly and useless, designed primarily for some kind of show.
