The two files contain soil organic carbon (% w/w) data for the Krui River catchment in NSW, Australia. It consists of field data (“Krui_20cm_SOC.csv”) and modelled data (“BIOS2_Krui_SOC_1908-2015.csv”) used to study the impact of drought on soil organic carbon. Soil organic carbon concentrations were determined using soil cores collected to 20 cm depth in 2006, 2015 and 2018 to study the impacts of recent droughts, while the BIOS2 model outputs (Haverd et al., 2013) from 1911-2015 were used to study the impacts of historical droughts. The area of study is the Krui River catchment (585 km2) in NSW, Australia. The catchment extends from 31° 49’ to 32° 13’S and from 150° 02’ to 150° 21’E. “BIOS2_Krui_SOC_1908-2015.csv” presents soil organic carbon data at annual timesteps from 1911-2015 for the catchment. “Krui_20cm_SOC.csv” presents soil organic carbon data collected across the catchment in 2006, 2014 and 2018. Reference for the BIOS2 model: Haverd, V., Raupach, M. R., Briggs, P. R., Canadell, J. G., Isaac, P., Pickett-Heaps, C., Roxburgh, S. H., Van Gorsel, E., Rossel, R. A. V. & Wang, Z. (2013). Multiple observation types reduce uncertainty in Australia's terrestrial carbon and water cycles. Biogeosciences, 10(3), 2011-2040. doi: 10.5194/bg-10-2011-2013. Data is in the following paper submitted to the journal Biogeochemistry as; Gibson, A.J., Verdon-Kidd, D.C., Hancock, G.R., Haverd, V. Temporal Stability of Soil Organic Carbon and Relationships with Drought.
