Throughout 2015 and 2016, the faculty of engineering and build environment at the University of Newcastle re-envisaged the suite of engineering programs on offer to meet the future needs of students and society. One of the key areas addressed in the changes was to form a strong backbone of professional practice courses running vertically through the programs. The foundation of this professional practice stream is 'ENGG1500 - Introduction to Engineering Practice'. This paper describes the transformation we have commenced, the pitfalls and successes.
